How we rate evidenceWhat can they do?
Eye patches may provide temporary hydration and a smoother-looking under-eye area. This is different from permanently changing wrinkles, bags or facial structure. Results depend on the product and the goal. [E1]
Do you need them every day?
Daily use is not a general requirement. Some manufacturers permit it, but this does not demonstrate better results than occasional use. Follow your specific product’s directions. [P1]
Consider the skin around your eyes
Stop if irritation occurs. Fragrance can cause irritation or allergic reactions, making fragrance-free products worth considering for sensitive skin, although this does not guarantee tolerance. Follow the stated wear time. [E2, P1–P3]
Single-use patches or reusable masks?
Hydrogel patches usually come ready to use with their formula. Reusable silicone masks sit over a separate eye product and require cleaning and drying according to manufacturer instructions. The mask and serum are therefore two parts of the routine. [P1–P3]
How do we compare them?
Compare single-use patches by price per pair. For reusable masks, cost per use depends on frequency, durability and the eye product used underneath. Also check the type of testing reported. Users saying their skin feels softer is different from a measured change. Neither an ingredient list nor a high price establishes that a product is best.
